The Uprising is about injustice and class inequality, but also about the thin line between resistance and blind collective rage. Once an angry mob is set in motion, it is difficult to predict where it will end – an unsettling echo of the storming of the US Capitol on January 6. With large-scale battle scenes and Greengrass’s nervous camerawork, medieval history suddenly feels startlingly relevant.
