The 3ième Personnage project is aimed to enable meetings between film music composers and duos of directors and producers working on a film project for which an original music score is yet to be composed and a specific composer is yet to be chosen (to be eligible, projects must be confirmed to be produced and already have a financial support). This initiative was originally created by the Festival International du Film d’Aubagne (France) and SACEM.
For this project, in partnership with the FIFA and SACEM, Film Fest Gent is looking for film projects (both feature films and shorts) and expects to select 3 to 5 film composers per project. The film’s director will have to send the screenplay (or parts) in advance to the candidate composers and have to share his/her vision and expectations for the musical tones he/she wishes to use by writing a musical note of intents. The director will choose excerpt(s) from the script or a certain scene for which the composers than has to prepare some demos/samples, based on the director’s notes.
During the WSAwards Industry Day the composers will get the opportunity to pitch. The director/producer-duos will have an interview with each composer in order to evaluate the artistic quality of the musical project presented to them. It is the composer’s role to convince them to trust him/her on composing the original music score for their film and to choose him/her to collaborate on this project. The 3ième Personnage looks out for feature film or short film projects secured of the necessary support and searching for a composer for the original film music.
Material we need:
- Scenario or selection of scenes (in English or English translation)
- Vision and expectations of the director about the film music
Deadline to hand in this material and more information about the event will be announced later.
If the development of your project is not advanced enough for the 3ième Personnage, note that in the late afternoon of our Industry Day, we organise a meeting and match making for professionals from the Belgian film music industry.
In cooperation with SABAM and Sacem.
