In the presence of: Roberto Minervini
Robert Minervini has long been known for chronicling the underdogs of the American South. For his fifth documentary he travelled to New Orleans, to capture the black community in confronting black and white colours. Judy hill is doing her best to keep her head up, emotionally and financially, but is continuously haunted by her past full of drugs and sexual abuse. The mother of half-brothers Ronaldo and Titus is fighting to give her children a better life, despite the increasing gun violence in their neighbourhood. Meanwhile, Krystal Muhammed looks fear right in the eyes as the leader of the New Black Panther Party, protesting police violence and black targeted murders. Surrealistically interweaved, are scenes of Native Americans celebrating Mardi Gras.
