Ike Jerome, aka Vikar (James Franco), is a wide-eyed innocent obsessed with the silver screen and the bright lights of Hollywood. Labelled a 'cinéautist' by his friends, he is determined to make it in the City of Angels. He hops on a bus to Los Angeles in search of fame and fortune but initially just gets confused with a member of the Charles Mason clan -he's religious and dons tattoos of Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift from 'A Place in the Sun'. In 1969, up-and-coming directors were rising to the scene due to the decline of the old cinematic system.
