We will also be honouring Hou Hsiao-hsien at this festival: besides his astoundingly beautiful new film 'The Assassin', we will also be showing a version of the film that triggered his breakthrough, restored by Cinematek in Belgium. Four bored young men from a village on the Pénh-hu islands end up in a southern port city, where they meet a thief's girlfriend determined to move to Taipei.
