This silent film of the play by Oscar Wilde with the same name, is a loose retelling of the biblical story of King Herod's execution of John the Baptist. Salomé, Herod's stepdaughter, requested the head of John the Baptist on a silver platter. Bryant's film is stylized thanks to set pieces and extravagant costumes designed by Natacha Rambova.
