L'ennemi tells the story of Louis Durieux, a politician and flamboyant public figure whose life is shattered the day he is accused of having murdered his wife, who's found dead in their hotel room in Ostend. The case blows up into an intense media frenzy. Guilty or innocent? Nobody knows. Perhaps not even Louis himself. L'ennemi is the new psychological drama from former journalist Stephan Streker, starring Jérémie Renier, Alma Jodorowsky and Emmanuelle Bercot. Just like his previous film Noces, Streker starts from a tragic yet fascinating news item that shook Belgium to the core. Always with the same objective: to not follow judicial facts, but to provoke deep reflection.
L'ENNEMI is the opening film of this year's competition. On 17 October we will introduce the international jury before the screening (8pm in Kinepolis 2), therefore this screening will have English subtitles. The screening in Kinepolis 6 on that same evening will be Dutch subtitled.
