Although this historical drama lasts a good five and a half hours, it found favour with the Locarno film festival jury, which awarded it the Golden Leopard. This breathtaking black-and-white film is set in a small village in the Philippines in the 1970s, in the grip of Ferdinand Marcos' dictatorial regime.
