'El Mar' focuses on three adults, who, as children, were first-hand witnesses and victims of the cruelties of the Spanish Civil War. Ramallo and Manuel are both committed to a TB ward, where Francisca works as a nurse. Ramallo, quickly begins to use his authoritarian character and natural charm to seduce and manipulate his fellow patients. Despite the bright setting of Mallorca, this film is a dark descent into the realm of physical and mental injury, religious hysteria, sexual repression, murder, suicide and infinite bloodshed.
