Film Fest Gent - Als In Een Donkere Spiegel

Karin suffers from schizophrenia. She leaves the mental institution to spend her holiday on a remote island, in the company of her husband, Martin, her younger brother, Minus, and her father, David. David is a writer - facing a huge writer’s block - and a distant father to his children. Especially Minus is bothered by this lack of fatherly warmth. During her stay on the island, Karin’s delusions become more and more serious. She is convinced that God talks to her and that one day she’ll meet Him. These hallucinations will ultimately have a huge impact on both Karin and the men who surround her. “Through a Glass Darkly” is the first movie that Ingmar Bergman filmed on Fårö, the island that stole his heart and where he would spend most of his life. This first part of Bergman’s so-called “Trilogy of Faith” is a brilliant character study which won multiple prizes, among which the Oscar and the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
