This year, Film Fest Gent is organizing the fourth edition of the Short Film Competition for Belgian students. Students from all the recognised film schools in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels can enter the competition. A professional jury, consisting of directors Toon Aerts, Bavo Defurne and David Lambert, animation filmmaker Emma De Swaef, actress Kim Hertogs and actor Valentijn Dhaenens will be rewarding the best entry with the National Lottery Award for Best Belgian Student Short Film, to the value of €2000. By doing so, Film Fest Gent wishes to emphasise the importance of the short film genre and give young, talented filmmakers the prospect of a good career. The audience can also vote for their favourite film on the day, which will then win the ACE Image Factory Audience Award.
