As usual, we are joining forces again for ten days in October with Vooruit. After a successful first edition in 2018, we will once again present a series of concert nights on which top musicians, floating among various genres, play live new compositions with films and projections under the name Videodroom. This can be both reinterpretations of existing scores and completely new and unique improvisations. Exclusive and one-off crossovers that are only presented to you during Film Fest Gent 2019.
Psychedelic krautrock and electronic drones: that’s the nutshell version of how we’d describe the musical exploits of Erik ‘Ripley’ Johnson (Wooden Shjips) and Sanae Yamada. Better known as Moon Duo, since 2009 these artists have been exploring all manner of occult universes that we mere mortals could never set foot in. Together with visual artist Emmanuel Biard, the duo will present their brand-new audiovisual show for the first and only time in Belgium. ‘Stardust Highway: Experiments in Stoner Disco’ is a hallucinatory, repetitive trip through time, rituals and invisible worlds.
The otherworldly Moon Duo, stationed in Portland, has for a long time held a penchant for magic and supernatural, as evidenced by their widely acclaimed diptych ‘Occult Architecture’. Vol. 2 is pretty convincing and, more importantly, totally satisfying, according to Pitchfork. For ‘Stardust Highway’ they’ve teamed up with Emmanuel Biard. In the past the British artist has made light-installations for live shows by the Scottish producer Koreless and club icon Lotic his ‘Endless Power’ was part of the programme of this year’s out the frama. Moon Duo and Biard will be bringing their first collaboration to our Theaterzaal as part of Videodroom.
Moon Duo is a must for anyone who’s ever enjoyed a bit of 'Spaceman 3' or 'Suicide' on their car stereo. A unique live show with impressive visuals!
