16th World Soundtrack Awards Ceremony & Concert

Film Fest Gent annually organises the World Soundtrack Awards, the most prestigious soundtrack awards in the world. The best composers of film music are honoured and receive international recognition for their work in Ghent every year. The 16th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards celebrates music composed for the most outstanding television shows. This year, the event is split up into two different programmes: the World Soundtrack Awards Gala on Wednesday 19 October, and the WSA Concert on Thursday 20 October. Both events take place at the prestigious Capitole Gent.

Big names from the international film music scene will be present, such as: Jeff Russo (‘Fargo’), Jeff Beal (‘House of Cards’) and Sean Callery (‘Homeland’).  All scores are performed by Brussels Philharmonic & the Flemish Radio Choir, conducted by Dirk Brossé.

Our guest of honour this year is Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. He is this year’s recipient of the most prestigious prize: the Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Sakamoto will be present during the performance of his most famous scores (‘Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence’, ‘The Last Emperor’, ‘Femme Fatale’).
