Film Fest Gent is also putting European short film talent in the spotlight and, as in previous years, is kicking off the competition to find the best European short film. This is being organised in collaboration with the European Film Academy and 14 other European film festivals, including Venice and Berlin. The talent selected as the winner in Ghent can then compete for the first prize next year: a screening of their short film at the European Film Awards Ceremony and the title of 'Best European Short'. This winner will be selected by the international jury consisting of Sir Alan Parker, Caroline Strubbe, Franco Lolli, Boyd Van Hoeij and Marjane Satrapi.
