Every year, Film Fest Gent organizes a European Short Film Competition in collaboration with the European Film Academy.
14 other European film festivals do the same, resulting in 15 winners competing at the European Film Awards 2016 in Wrocław (Poland).

Jonathan Coe (UK)
British author Jonathan Coe is an award-winning and prolific author. He has served as a jury member at the Venice, Sitges and Edinburgh Film Festivals.

Lina El Arabi (FR)
French actress Lina El Arabi took acting classes in Paris. Her work includes ‘Ne m’abandonne pas’ and ‘Noces’. Her next appearance will be in ‘Eye on Juliet’.
India Hair (FR)
India Hair is a French TV, film and theatre actress. She is known for her roles in ‘Camille Rewinds’ and ‘Demain et tous les autres jours’.
Tran Anh Hung (FR)
His feature film debut, ‘The Scent of Green Papaya’, won Vietnamese-born French director Tran Anh Hung both a Caméra d’Or in Cannes and international critical acclaim. Other titles are ‘Cyclo’, ‘I Come with the Rain’ and ‘Norwegian Wood’.
Maaike Neuville (BE)
Maaike Neuville is a Belgian film, television and theatre actress. She has directed two shorts and is finalising a third directorial project.

Jeremy Thomas (US)
Jeremy Thomas produced acclaimed films such as ‘Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence’ and the winner of nine Academy Awards ‘The Last Emperor’. He was Chairman of the British Film Institute and has been President of the Jury at the Tokyo, Berlin and Cannes film festival (Un Certain Regard).
