That’s All Folk!

On Friday 17 October, the Ghent Film Festival will be presenting “That’s All Folk!”, a film music concert by folk rock sensation Kadril at the De Bijloke music centre in Ghent. The programme will include tracks from Brokeback Mountain, Black Cat White Cat, and Vengo. Get ready for some arm-swinging, hip-swaying folksy fun, against a backdrop of big screen film clips.

Folk music and film music? Not such a strange combination after all, when so many soundtracks these days could easily pass for world music records. Emir Kusturica’s Black Cat White Cat, Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon and Tony Gatlif’s Vengo are just a few examples which spring to mind. Capitalising on this trend, the Ghent Film Festival will be hosting a film music concert dedicated to folk and world music, starring Kadril.

Over the past 10 years, Kadril has established itself as a top-notch folk-rock fusion band that has captivated audiences in Flanders and beyond. At “That’s All Folk!”, the band will be playing tunes from The Long Riders, Brokeback Mountain, Shakespeare in Love, Walk the Line, Pirates of the Caribbean, Barry Lyndon, Black Cat White Cat, Vengo and Tango.
